Ingredients

  • 2 sticks (1 cup) softened butter
  • 140g packed dark brown sugar
  • 96g granulated sugar
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 eggs - 1 whole egg and 1 egg yolk
  • 370g flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • ¼ tsp baking powder
  • ½ bag of mini semi-sweet chocolate chips (about 8oz)

Instructions

Preheat oven 350°

  1. Combine flour, baking powder, baking soda in a bowl and set aside. Mix well.
  2. Add butter, brown sugar, granulated sugar, salt, and vanilla to a mixing bowl. Cream butter and sugar for about 3 minutes. The mixture should be significantly lighter, a light blonde almost white color when ready.
  3. Add the whole egg and beat until thoroughly integrated. Add the egg yolk and beat completely mixed in.
  4. Add half of the flour mixture and mix on low speed until combined. Add the remaining flour and mix until incorporated.
  5. Add the chocolate chips and stir until satisfied they are thoroughly integrated.
  6. Make dough into balls and place on a cookie sheet. Bake for 10 minutes.
  7. Remove from the oven and let the cookies finish baking on the pan for 10-15 minutes before removing to a cooling rack.

Notes

The dough should be the texture of soft but firm play-dough.

The cookies might not look done when you take them out of the oven but they will continue to cook on the pan as they sit and cool. If, after letting them sit for 15 minutes they seem undercooked, add 1 minute to cooking time for the next batch.
